This clip is just a minute and a half. But it is more than worth your time. Providing you might need a smile.

What has your attention today?

Can you remember the now-famous Flight 401 from New York to Miami?

As the flight approached Miami Airport the light that was to show that the landing gear we properly deployed did not come on. Without this light the flight crew could not be assured that the landing gear was properly down. As the aircraft made a long slow loop over the swamp, numerous parts of the fight crew made valiant efforts to remove the $0.75 blub to replace it. As the flight grew belabored this small light, no one noticed that the craft was looping lower and lower, closer and closer to the murky swamp. We all can remember the tragic outcome. Several lost their lives, many were badly hurt.

Moral;
Make sure that we are paying proper attention to the important things. Far too many times we let the less significant things divert our attention.

Faults ?

“Almost all of our faults are more pardonable
than the methods we think up to hide them.”

Francois La Rochefoucauld, French classical writer.

He who knows?

He who knows not, and knows that he knows not,
is a fool; shun him.

He who knows not, and knows that he knows not,
is a child; teach him.

He who knows not, and knows not that he knows not,
is asleep; wake him.

He who knows, and knows that he knows, is wise; follow him.

I lifted this from “Come before winter,” By Chuck Swindoll. He sources this as a Persian proverb.

Please, Just a little humor!

I have four extra tickets for the Robbie Knievel (son of Evil Knievel) Event at the Ford Center next weekend in Houston, Texas , if anybody wants them.

Robbie is going to try to jump over 1,000 Obama supporters with a Caterpillar D-9 bulldozer.

Should be a good time.

Judgment vs. Judgmentalism

I found the following words of Call Thomas such a provoking thought.

"Opinion columnists, like the rest of humanity, walk a fine line between judgment (holding people accountable to a standard we did not create) and judgmentalness (thinking ourselves morally superior because we haven't committed the acts of others)."

I chose to add a little to Mr. Thomas words this morning; can we hold people accountable to a standard we did not create, that being the standard from Holy Write?

"That many on the Left continue to dance on the grave of Richard Nixon and revile George W. Bush does not give the Right permission to engage in eye for an eye behavior. Many on the Right invoke the name of Jesus on Sunday and tear down a politician whose policies they don't like the rest of the week. Tearing down policy is fine, but diminishing the value of a fellow human simply because you don't like his politics (or his personal behavior) is not a good strategy for persuading him to change either. It also raises the level of invective, which is injurious not only to our politics but to the one contributing the invective."

I will not comment on the second quote from Mr. Thomas article.

California Schools ?

This is lifted from an article by George Will.

"The education code, by which state legislators micromanage California's thousands of schools at the behest of teachers unions, is, Poizner says, 2,000 pages "and growing rapidly." He is disgusted that more than half of the 600,000 employees in primary and secondary education are not in classrooms. The most "telling statistic," he says, is that in Los Angeles (where one in three school dollars goes to teachers' pensions) 25 percent of public school teachers send their children to private schools."

What has gone wrong or what is going wrong with the schools in California?
Mr. Will's has provided us with fodder for thought!
