One Hundred years ago today.

At 7:17am on 30 June 1908, an immense explosion tore through the forest of central Siberia.

One hundred years ago today, was the closest our world has come to ending. But, this was not the way it is to close.

"The sky split in two and fire appeared high and wide over the forest. The split in the sky grew larger, and the entire northern side was covered with fire," one local remembered.
"At that moment I became so hot that I couldn't bear it, as if my shirt was on fire… I wanted to tear off my shirt and throw it down, but then the sky slammed shut. A strong thump sounded, and I was thrown a few yards."

The asteroid that hit in Siberia was one more blast.

“The blast was 1,000 times more powerful than the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki and generated a shock wave that knocked people to the ground 60km from the epicenter.”

We are not alone! Are there others like us somewhere in the galactic expanse? I have not idea. But there is a lot of relative small pieces of, whatever, moving around out there. What would be the magnitude should a part of this space gravel, or whatever, hit L.A. Denver, Hong cong or some other metro area?

According to a video of the Saudi official recorded and translated by MEMRI, the Middle East Media Research Institute,

Al-Mu'bi has confirmed that marriage contracts are appropriate for girls as young as age 1.
And he said the model for marriage continues to be Muhammad, who married one of his wives when she was but 6.

The video comes from a broadcast on LBC Television on June 19, according to the MEMRI report.

Al-Mu'bi said, "Marriage is actually two things: First we are talking about the marriage contract itself. This is one thing, while consummating the marriage – having sex with the wife for the first time – is another thing.

"There is no minimal age for entering marriage. You can have a marriage contract even with a 1-year-old girl, not to mention a girl of 9, 7, or 8. This is merely a contract [indicating] consent. The guardian in such a case must be the father, because the father's opinion is obligatory. Thus, the girl becomes a wife," he said.

Abraham (1)

The day was warm not as hot as some of the past few days. Father Abraham was sitting in the entrance of his tent enjoying the soft breeze that was coming to him. Had he fallen asleep or just dozed for a moment, three men were very close as they were walking passed where he sat. For an old man he moved very quick and approached these men, almost embarrassed that they had come so close and he could have missed their passing. “Oh my lords turn aside from your journey and allow me to offer you some water for your feet and a cool place to sit and rest a few moments,” was Abraham’s request of these three men. It was kind of odd they did not even confer with one another them almost instant response was, “we shall.” Abraham turned and ran into Shari’s tent, and started his orders. Quick mother make me three loves of your wonderful bread, servant go into the stall and make ready that special goat we have been keeping, servant fetch three pitchers of water and bring them to me under the date palms at once. And sure enough things came into place as Abraham hopped it would. Yet this man a very rich man, a man of nobility, a man of substance just stood close by as these travelers wshed their feet, eat Shari’s bread and enjoyed the tender young goat. He never sat down and conversed with these three men. He stood ready to get whatever their next need might be.

This might not happen in a shouting, running jumping Pentecostal service. Yet deep within out spirit we since that someone or some ones are passing close to where we are. Do we hasten to be of some service to these travelers, not to be or do some great thing for them? But just the common ordinary thing, “some water for your feet?” This water originates form that spring, of living water, which is deep within you. You offer them water to refresh themselves. Here set beneath this tree that, “was planted by the river,” let its shade bring comfort to you. Then to follow the lead of Abraham you stand close by very reverent as your guests refresh themselves in what you have provided.

Sound silly! But if you will think back, you will remember such a time in your spiritual life.

Problems in the Senate Restaurants

Please allow me a moment to adjust my tie, my glasses and my suit coat. Now I am ready to assent my soap box behind the bully pulpit. HELLO ARE YOU OUT THERE, CAN YOU HEAR ME. Good, the P.A. system seems to be working OK.

Did you see the small article that may not have made your news? Last week in the Porterville Recorder, the editorial page dated Wednesday, June 11, 2008 there was an editorial, “No subpar food for senators.” My quotes will be from this article unless otherwise stated.
It has come to light that the Senate Restaurants are and have been losing money, “they have lost $18 million since 1993, and are slated to lose $2 million this year.” These people who want to run our wars can not even make a restaurant break even? Those who operate our Federal assistance can’t even get a place to eat close to braking even? “Without an immediate $250,000 subsidy from tax payers they will not be able to make payroll.” Isn’t that nice, they need us, the tax payers, to subsidy their payroll. Where is the subsidy when you need help with the water, electric etc? Notice the word subsidy, not loan but the gift with no intent to repay! These restaurants “have lost money 37 out of the last 41 years they have been in business.” How can you or can you call it a business when there is no concern for the bottom line. OH! Remember that the taxpayer will give them a subsidy!

From the lips of Dianne Feinstein, “The food in the Senate eateries is ‘noticeable subpar.” The food is not good and they can’t even break even for the service they provide. What a way to do business!! These same people what to offer us care, “from the womb to the tomb.” My question is could apply the fine Senators words, “noticeable subpar,” to the service they provide?
I will give you three chances as to how they plan to solve this dire complication. These wonderful insightful people, our Senate has come to a conclusion for the solution of this problem. Are you ready for their answer? “Pretty much everybody of what ever ideological persuasion knows that the public sector works better that than the public sector.” YES, this wonderful intelligent group is going to allow the public sector to operate these restaurants. The term is privatizing the restaurants. They will no longer be under the control of our great senators. However there are some concerns from the senators, “some were wringing their hands over the possibility that the workers in the private company might be paid less and have to work harder then when the Senate ran the plantation.”

CAN YOU STILL HEAR ME? Look these people that we elect to run our pharmaceutics, welfare, military, roads, and now they want to run our heath care, doctors and who knows what next. YET, they can not even keep a restaurant open without us, we, those better known as taxpayers giving them a subsidy. These who would like to help or watch over us and provide a protection from the womb to the tomb?? And they can’t run a restaurant!!

SCHOOL 1957 vs. 2008

Scenario : Jack goes quail hunting before school, pulls into school parking lot with shotgun in gun rack.
1957 - Vice Principal comes over, looks at Jack's shotgun, goes to his car and gets his shotgun to show Jack.
2008 - School goes into lock down, FBI called, Jack hauled off to jail and never sees his truck or gun again. Counselors called in for traumatized students and teachers.

Scenario : Johnny and Mark get into a fistfight after school.
1957 - Crowd gathers. Mark wins. Johnny and Mark shake hands and end up buddies.
2008 - Police called, SWAT team arrives, arrests Johnny and Mark. Charge them with assault, both expelled even though Johnny started it.

Scenario : Jeffrey won't be still in class, disrupts other students.
1957 - Jeffrey sent to office and given a good paddling by the Principal. Returns to class, sits still and does not disrupt class again.
2008 - Jeffrey given huge doses of Ritalin. Becomes a zombie. Tested for ADD. School gets extra money from state because Jeffrey has a disability.

Scenario : Billy breaks a window in his neighbor's car and his Dad gives him a whipping with his belt.
1957 - Billy is more careful next time, grows up normal, goes to college, and becomes a successful businessman.
2008 - Billy's Dad is arrested for child abuse. Billy removed to foster care and joins a gang. State psychologist tells Billy's sister that she remembers being abused herself and their Dad goes to prison. Billy's mom has affair with psychologist.

Scenario : Mark gets a headache and takes some aspirin to school .
1957 - Mark shares aspirin with Principal out on the smoking dock.
2008 - Police called, Mark expelled from school for drug violations. Car searched for drugs and weapons.

Scenario : Pedro fails high school English.
1957 - Pedro goes to summer school, passes English, goes to college.
2008 - Pedro's cause is taken up by state. Newspaper articles appear nationally explaining that teaching English as a requirement for graduation is racist. ACLU files class action lawsuit against state school system and Pedro's English teacher. English banned from core curriculum. Pedro given diploma anyway but ends up mowing lawns for a living because he cannot speak English.

Scenario : Johnny takes apart leftover firecrackers from 4th of July, puts them in a model airplane paint bottle, blows up a red ant bed.
1957 - Ants die.
2008 - BATF, Homeland Security , FBI called. Johnny charged with domestic terrorism, FBI investigates parents, siblings removed from home, computers confiscated, Johnny's Dad goes on a terror watch list and is never allowed to fly again.

Scenario : Johnny falls while running during recess and scrapes his knee. He is found crying by his teacher, Mary. Mary hugs him to comfort him.
1957 - In a short time, Johnny feels better and goes on playing.
2008 - Mary is accused of being a sexual predator and loses her job. She faces 3 years in State Prison. Johnny undergoes 5 years of therapy

Presidential Pandering (?)

I lifted this question from Lou Dobbs web site.

“Do you believe Presidential candidates are more committed to pandering to ethnic and other special interest groups than to this country's national interest?”

Are we in a situation where those who are seeking the highest office in the land, seeking to pander to one specific group here and another group there?
I seem to remember a saying something about licking your finger, sticking it up just to see which direction the wind is blowing. Are those who have aspiration to achieve this high office practice the same line of thought?

PERSONAL OPINION;

The person who archives the highest office in the land needs to be prepared to bring about the best for the whole. Not just one or two segments of the while!
