Some old stories.

The following ramblings were opened by Jewel Divinely Rare.

My mind, over the last few days after reading Karen’s entry has dwelt on the time we spend during my teenage years. Prayer meetings. Wow!! I can remember the young people gathering on Friday night, the boys in the alter area and the girls in a larger upstairs class room. I mean until the sun would shine in the East windows of that old building. You could hear someone in the dark under a pew crying and lifting their voice to the Lord. The girls crying shouting and you could hear the moving of the Spirit.
How about a 24 hour prayer chain? The men took the hours from about eight pm until about seven am. What about during church service? No problem! More than once you could hear someone crying and praying behind the platform area. When the hour was up, you would see someone get up and quietly walk out. In just a few moments someone would come into service as the prayer guard was changed.
What did all this bring? I still hold memories of a light blue cloud moving across that congregation, just below the ceiling. Sometimes from side to side and other times front to back. NO! I was not seeing things because too many times several us we young men would stand in Aw as we witnessed the move of God.
Something like this, I think is how the text reads, this kind cometh only by prayer and fasting. Fasting, will I may dig up some old stories of young men fasting.

Made it home.

We got home from Frisco late yesterday afternoon. With the Doctor only changed one of my meds. He also added a couple of things that I should watch for.
I will try to post some pictures in the next day or so.

Time will revile what is to be the outcome.
Only He who stands in eternity knows what the out come will be.
I have placed both my hope and trust in His hands.

A walk in the snow.

Architect Frank Lloyed Webber told of a lecture he received at the age of nine helped set his philosophy of life. An uncle, a stolid, no-nonsense type, had taken him for a long walk across a snow-covered field. At the far side, his uncle told him to look back at their two sets of tracks. ‘See my boy,’ he said, ‘how your foot prints go aimlessly back and forth from those tress, over to the cattle, back to the fence and over there where you were throwing sticks.’ But notice how my tracks come straight across, directly to my goal. You should never forget this lesson.’
And he never did, Wright said grinning, I decided right then not to miss most things in life, as my uncle had.

"Race Talk"

"What to call black people has to be confusing to white people. Having been around for 73 years, I have been through a number of names. Among the polite ones are: colored, Negro, Afro-American, black, and now African-American. Among those names, African-American is probably the most unintelligent. You say, "What do you mean, Williams?" Suppose I told you that I had a European-American friend or a South-America-American friend, or a North-America-American friend. You'd probably say, "Williams, that's stupid. Europe, South America and North America are continents consisting of many peoples." You might insist that I call my friend from Germany a German-American instead of European-American and my friend from Brazil a Brazilian-American rather than a South-America-American and my friend from Canada a Canadian-American instead of a North-American."

Loss of youth!

My heart was moved this morning as I read this story.

The Rev. Michael Pfleger has ordered the American flag at St. Sabina Church hung upside-down -- a historic sign of distress -- to symbolize the growing death toll among Chicago's youngsters. So far this school year, 36 children and teens have been slain -- more than one a week -- and Pfleger is among a chorus of Chicagoans who say the slayings aren't getting the attention they deserve.

The death and carnage of young people! This to me is a very sad state of affairs. Where are the parents? What is happening in the schools? Sorry! My questions would go on and on. Personally, even though I do not know any of these young people, who have lost their life’s. I will asking our God to help this group of youth!

One really odd day!

This is the makings of one odd day!

Prepare to be awed by Odd Day. For the mathematically challenged, Thursday's date, 5/7/09, is one of only six this century that will feature three consecutive odd numbers.
Numbers lovers say the rare occurrence is an excuse to celebrate.

"The previous stretch of six dates like this started with 1/3/1905 — 13 months after the Wright Brothers' flight," said Ron Gordon, the Redwood City teacher who enthusiastically promotes these numerical holidays, like Square Root Day on 3/3/09.

Gordon is offering a prize of $579 to those who celebrate the date with the most zeal or who get the most people involved in an Odd Celebration
.

National day of Prayer?

I picked this up this morning. The President is going to make some changes.

President Obama is distancing himself from the National Day of Prayer by nixing a formal early morning service and not attending a large Catholic prayer breakfast the next morning.
All Mr. Obama will do for the National Day of Prayer, which is Thursday, is sign a proclamation honoring the day, which originated in 1952 when Congress set aside the first Thursday in May for the observance.
For the past eight years, President George W. Bush invited selected Christian and Jewish leaders to the White House East Room, where he typically would give a short speech and several leaders offered prayers.
Obama White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said Tuesday that the president is simply reverting back to pre-Bush administration practice

Dose this help to prove his comment that American is NOT a Christian nation?

Saw WHAT?

Reporting from Calexico, Calif. -- A Mexican restaurant in this border town is drawing the curious and the faithful to see what some believe is a likeness of the Virgin Mary that appeared miraculously on a griddle.
Here is the link to this story.
http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-virgin4-2009may04,0,6623680.story

I am going back about twenty-five years or more to Bakersfield, Ca. During the Christmas season there was a home in the Niles St. area where there was said to be a likeness for the Virgin Mary which appeared on the side of a home. I went by there several times, just to feed my curiosity and took some pictures of where the image was seen. Sorry, I never saw anything close to what others saw. Yet, these folks yard was full of candles, flowers, crosses, statues and other religious artifacts. There was a very large crowd coming and going each night, even to the place that the police department sent officers to control traffic in the area. The Catholic Priest made several trips there to, “Bless the image of the Virgin Mary.”
A couple of years ago there was a grilled cheeses sandwich now this. SORRY I am one who does not put much in these sightings, except the curiosity of how many will follow and be persuaded.

Age by Chocolate :-)

Don't tell me your age; you probably would tell a falsehood anyway-but the Hershey Man will know!
YOUR AGE BY CHOCOLATE MATH
This is pretty neat.DON'T CHEAT BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST!It takes less than a minute .Work this out as you read .Be sure you don't read the bottom until you've worked it out! This is not one of those waste of time things, it's fun.

1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to have chocolate (more than once but less than 10)
2. Multiply this number by 2 (just to be bold)
3. Add 54.
4. Multiply it by 50 -- I'll wait while you get the calculator
5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1759 ...
If you haven't, add 1758.
6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.
You should have a three digit number.
The first digit of this was your original number
(i.e., how many times you want to have chocolate each week).

The next two numbers are YOUR AGE!
(Oh YES, it is!!!!!)

THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2009) IT WILL EVER WORK, SO SPREAD IT AROUND WHILE IT LASTS.

I took this from an e-mail I received this morning.
