Air Bag For The Elderly !

Honest friends I saw it this morning. I am to close to that age to tell you if it is funny or will I be needing one.

Here is the link to a short video, http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7635225.stm, you watch it then you tell me ??

What will the think of next. Would this go under the leading of "wisdom being increased?"

Enjoy the day. I'm trying to get this contraption strapped to my back!

Should Obama Lose (?)

Dennis Prager had a very troubling commentary on the upcoming election, should one side win. Here are some of his comments.

"Seven weeks before the 2008 presidential election, liberals are warning America that if Barack Obama loses, it is because Americans are racist. Of course, that this means that Democrats (and independents) are racist, since Republicans will vote Republican regardless of the race of the Democrat, is an irony apparently lost on the Democrats making these charges.

Rage over the Iraq War has largely focused on President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. But if Obama loses, liberal rage will focus on millions of fellow Americans and on American society.

Jack Cafferty of CNN: “The polls remain close. Doesn’t make sense … unless it’s race.”

If Obama loses, it will not be deemed plausible that Americans have again rejected a liberal candidate,"

Good Morning !

Monday morning, here I sit completing my second cup of high octane foul black fluid. The week end was relative quite, not even an exciting phone call. Went to dinner Saturday evening with some friends, we sat, we ate, talked and laughed at ourselves and others.
This is one of those times when you look at the screen, yet your mind is going from one place to another and back to a different place. The main topic in my mind over the weekend has been the thought of tolerance or intolerance. Not from the aspect of others to me but my ability to be tolerant to others. Take you pick, religion, politics, food your pick. I do try to give you the privilege to do, eat or believe what you want. One part of Mervi is the idea, point, desire to know, why you do or believe as you do. NO real desire to be combative, just some questions to help Mervi understand you.

All I ask in return is that you allow Mervi to keep his own believes. May I paraphrase Paul, that theologian of the New Testament? Should you eat meat, be careful that you don’t affined that brother who does not eat meat. I will even engage some I know in debate, only those I know who know how to debate and those who can walk away and still be friends!

We are ALL different, looks, speech, native language, how we were raised, where we were raised and on and on. There are so many variances in how we arrived at were we are RIGHT NOW!!

The Bridge

Oh bridge I see
Oh where will you lead?
My steps are not as quick
My steps are not as sure
Please, Oh Bridge, be steady now for me.

Oh bridge I see
Time has brought me here
Time that stands behind and before me
Time that moves me on, where I know not!
Time that has no point of rest, always on the move.

Oh bridge I see
As I move cross your boards
I look beyond your crossing
From shadowy trees which hang low quite field I see.
Yet, I have faith in He who waits. . . .

I am troubled by this article?

Sorry, but items like the following put or appear to give question to ones allegiance to his leader and his country.

“WHILE campaigning in public for a speedy withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, Sen. Barack Obama has tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence.
According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July.
"He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington," Zebari said in an interview.”

Here is the link to the complete story. I do intend that those who read, sit and think be able to form their own option.

Jonah (The end)

This grisly old prophet hears a voice, I wonder how loud it was, and followed its instructions. He moves out of the cave on to the path he had used to get there. A great wind came along the mountain top, with howling and whistling, and boom, boom as those big rocks rolled down the mountain. God was not in the wind. As the wind subsided the mountain began to shack and tremble. God was not there either. As the mountain seemed to become stable once more, out of nowhere came this hugh fire with wind whistling, popping and cracking as it burn its way across the mountain. Once more God was not there. Back to Jonah, the reason he was having such a good nap is, he knew that God was not in the wind nor the waves, nor the rain so he did need to worry about hearing the same thing that cause the old prophet to cover his face! That still small voice.

I am going to ascend my worn soap box!

Do we have some churches (warehouses) for those who do not want to hear that still small voice? Is the amount of VOLUM used to thwart one from hearing that still small voice? Remember my friends Pentecost is known for its noise! Yes, you are correct. But being a little older I also can remember those services when you were afraid to move all you could was weep and cry as that voice spoke to you. SORRY, I have not been nor hear of to many of those kinds of services of late. And by the way, I can remember many of those old time services with nothing but a piano, a flat top guitar, an accordion or two and the stand up bull fiddle. Man did they shout! Oh no I do not want to go back to those days, I like the newfangled A.C. units in our services.

I shall decent from my soap box.

Please don’t say, “He does not like amplified instruments!” I do like them and microphones also. I read in a book on Pentecostal worship, “There are some who equate volume as or with anointing.” I completely agree with this statement. Sorry, a loud P.A. system is NOT always anointing!

Attorneys ?

I heard a REAL reason this morning that convinced me which way to vote in this Presidential election. I heard Mr. Dennis Prayger make this comment on his radio program.

“On one side we have two attorneys on the other side we no attorneys.”

Can you guess which side I will cast my vote for?

Something to think about.

J. F. K. (?)

Which political party would John F. Kennedy be associated with today?

Kennedy supported, in today's lexicon, a George W. Bush-like "belligerent" approach to fighting the Cold War, and told CBS' Walter Cronkite it would be "a great mistake" to withdraw the American presence from Vietnam. In his 1961 inaugural speech, Kennedy said, "Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty."
In January 1963, Kennedy addressed Congress: "Lower rates of taxation will stimulate economic activity and so raise the levels of personal and corporate income as to yield within a few years an increased — not a reduced — flow of revenues to the federal government." Several days later, JFK sent another message to Congress: "Our tax system still siphons out of the private economy too large a share of personal and business purchasing power and reduces the incentive for risk, investment and effort — thereby aborting our recoveries and stifling our national growth rate."

These comments were lifted from an article by Larry Elder, here is the link to the complete article. http://jewishworldreview.com/cols/elder090408.php3

Jonah (3)

I am not departing from the prophet Jonah yet. I would entreat you to read the following text. Is there some comparison or similarities between the two settings?

"1Ki 19:11 And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:
12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a ? ? ?" (KLV)

I will make my point or the bunch line next time.

Thanks for coming by;

Jonah (2)

Jonah
We find this man who had heard the voice of the Lord his God with the command to GO, so he went. He went, only in the wrong direction. Why? To escape that voice and call. He is sound asleep in the innards of this cruse ship. The prophet is oblivious to all that is going on around him, the storm, the thunder, and the rain, the pounding of the waves and the fear of the mariners. His has no knowledge of the peril because he is fast asleep and enjoying the slumber.

Just my thoughs;

Two covers ( ? ? )

I had heard about this, I found it so I will share it with those who stop by here.

BY Jana Winter

The popular celebrity gossip magazine Us Weekly has jumped into the political ring, feet first, with a scathing article about Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.
On its most recent cover, due out on newsstands Friday, the magazine shows a picture of Palin with the headline, “Babies, Lies & Scandal” — a marked contrast from its gushing review of Barack and Michelle Obama that ran two months ago.
Critics say this cover, which was released a day ahead of Palin’s acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention, is a sucker punch aimed at the GOP ticket, and is a blatant attempt to influence the votes of the magazine’s 12 million mostly female readers.
Here is the link to this story;
Mervi

Mrs Palin and Cal Thomas

The following was lifted from Mr. Cal Thomas in his commentary today.

“We are such hypocrites. When it was announced that Alaska governor and GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin's 17-year-old daughter, Bristol, was five months pregnant, the media pounced.
Did this damage Palin's preference for abstinence-only policies? Shouldn't she be staying home at this difficult time in her daughter's life? What about Palin's new baby, who has Down syndrome? Shouldn't he be getting much more of her time and attention? How can she be vice president and a good mother? Haven't critics forgotten that Palin has a husband to help?
Speaker Nancy Pelosi has five children. No one has asked her such questions.

One can't turn on the TV in primetime without being exposed to all sorts of sex (except the marital variety). There is very little "safe sex" on TV. Actresses speak of their sexual exploits as if they were discussing the latest in designer shoes or where to have lunch. Erectile dysfunction commercials abound. The Internet offers free porn with a single "click." My grandmother, who thought it demonstrated poor breeding to say the words "toilet paper" in public, would be scandalized. Entertainment reporters hold up as role models young actresses having sex and babies out of wedlock, as if it is one of many equally valid choices. “

Just a sample from Mr. Thomas column, which I happen to both like and agree with, here is the link to the complete column.

Jonah (1)

Jonah.

That small book in what we call the Minor Prophets. I have read and taught this book and its applications many times. However today I would like to bring about a different vain of thought. Not to dwell on a man running from the call of God, so much, this will be brought out a little latter. Please bear with me as I bring a thought. Oh, yes, your input would be great to read and process, sorry, thing about as I wonder along.

Just another point of interest, as I turned around to get a Bible the one I happened to pick up is a Chronological Bible. This Bible puts the happenings of Jonah at the time of Jeroboam II. Something new to me!

On to Jonah. He ran from the Lord and found a sea cruse getting underway. As they traveled a, “Great storm,” over took the cruise ship. Yet our friend Jonah was far below deck sound asleep Now how could he, a land lubber, sleep whenever the sea faring men could not? The sound of the waves, the thunder and the pounding rain did not disquiet our friend as he slept?

HOW COULD HE SLEEP?

Labor on.

Labor on,
The task may seem long,
The task may seem hard,
A still small voice says, Labor on.

Labor on,
The day is so hot,
The night so cold,
A still small voice cries Labor on.

Labor on,
The load seems so heavy,
The need goes on and . .
A still small voice groans, Labor on.

Labor on,
We know not the end of day?
We know not when night shall fall?
We only know to, Labor on.
Just a thought from;
Mervi,
