What a time to be alive!

What a time to be alive!!

A monkey with wires attached to or into its brain,
moves a robotic arm to feed it’s self.

Then on the planet of Mars we have a second robotic arm
being controlled from millions of miles away.

What a time to be watching science!!

FUEL (?)

We all have had thoughts and some have expressed their thoughts into words about the horrific cost of fuel. By looking at the signs, when I fuel my Chevy pickup tomorrow I will lay out about $80.00. MAN, I hate to admit it but I can remember gas at $0.19, the days of the old fashion gas war is long gone.

Will now we have another type or style of fuel war on our hands.

But or however, has anyone noticed or seen the rising cost of a different fuel, the fuel for our bodies. What is commonly called food? A loaf of bread, a can of green beans or corn, lettuce for a salad and on it goes. Are we approaching that point where we will be, almost forced, to decide. Let me see do I gas up the car or do I walk to the grocer store? And once there how much will we be able to purchase?

Yes, I do see some tight times approaching us. I do see the fact that we, as a nation or society, are using human fuel, corn, for vehicle fuel. Somewhere at sometime I feel or think we, as a nation or society, missed something.

The Facts of Life from Mr. Bill Gates

Love him or hate him, he sure hits the nail on the head with this! Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good,politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.

Rule 1: Life is not fair - get used to it!

Rule 2 : The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3 : You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4 : If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.

Rule 5 : Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.

Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.

Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.

Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

If you can read this - Thank a teacher!

Are 32,000 Scientists Enough

Are 32,000 Scientists Enough to Question Global Warming 'Consensus?'Marc SheppardThe National Press Club in Washington will today release the names of as many as 32,000 American Scientists who reject not only Kyoto-style greenhouse gas limits, but the very premise of manmade global warming itself.

On Saturday, Lawrence Solomon wrote a great piece in the National Post (h/t Benny Peiser) which begged the question:

"How many scientists does it take to establish that a consensus does not exist on global warming?"

How many, indeed?

Just a pebble

To sit beside a cool flowing stream, not a river, but a quit stream as it moves passed your presents. It is unaware of you being there, it just flows ahead. If my memory banks are close to correct, a moving stream will cleans or purify it’s self about ever thousands yards. With no regard for what may enter this moving body of water, it will be either gone or cleansed in a very short time.
Then to find a pebble hold it for a moment look at it, see the lines of time on its surface. Then to put a name to that pebble, finances, kids, spouse, work, emotions the choice is mine and mine alone. I take my pebble and toss it into the moving current of the stream. You may not even see it hit the bottom. But you know that in just a short distance in either footage or in time.

The pebble will be cleansed.

Just a thought,

A Personal thought or opinion.

Mr. Bush just left and is or has returned form a trip asking the oil rich areas to produce a little more of that dark crude we call oil.

Now I, personal opinion, find this an interesting point. Let THEM get that dark dirty fluid out of the ground. But not in or at our back door. Will I, personal opinion, find is this just a little hypocritical of the USA? Ya’ll handle that dark foul crude! We don’t want it in our back yard.

We are asking someone else to do something that we don’t / won’t do in our back yard.

Personal opinion lets get some more of that liquid gold from our own sources, we still have a lot left and have found more. But there is that faction that says, “NOT IN OUR BACK YARD!”

A place of sadness.

The largest world news story for last day or two has been the earth quake in China.
I lifted this picture from the New York Times on line. The caption and the photo, to me, tell the sadness of this natural disaster.

Tiny Bodies in a Morgue, and Grief in China
By JIM YARDLEY
Many victims of the quake are children in a country where most families are allowed to have only one. Above, a morgue in Juyuan on Wednesday.
