Abram (2)

The visitors that had stopped by Abram’s tent, that day, were now refreshed and started to depart from their gracious host. As they bowed one to another and said words of parting the three strangers started down the path toward Sodom and Lot. The Lord had not gone far when He asked Himself a question. How can I not let Abram know what is about to happen? He turned and came back to Abram and let this mortal know the plans of the immortal. The thought of Lot being destroyed with all the others in Sodom brought Abram to a new awakening as to whom he was in the presents of. Lord if you could find fifty righteous, would you not bring this great destruction? Surly Lot had been a little of a testimony in Sodom? Yes, Abram if we can find fifty. Abram stood there thinking about the last time he had been to Lot’s home. The table was clean but the Torah was dusty. Lord if there be forty? Yes, Abram if we can find forty I will spare the city. Abram dropped his head as he remembered the last time he asked Lot to say the blessing over dinner. Lord if there are only thirty? Yes, Abram if there are thirty I will spare the city. Abram shifted his feet and thought about how late Lot was to the last sacrifice to the Lord. Lord should you find twenty? Yes, Abram should there be twenty I will spare the city. Abram stood very still and quite as he though of all the things that gone wrong with and for Lot. Lord please be kind, but should you find just ten?? Yes, Abram Should I find ten I will spare the city. Abram knew what he was doing, he knew with whom he was speaking and his words were very measured, cautious yet deliberate.

Yes, in my short life there have been times when after a season of worship to bring a refreshing to the Lord. Things have changed, as Paul commented, groaning which I could not utter. Pain, tears and weeping are they always for Mervi? No, not always, but for others the time of intersession which moves the Lord of Glory. I have seen and many have heard of the times when parents in deep intersession for children around the world. And the hand of our God prevailed. Did Abram bargain with the Lord? I never have felt that this was the plan of Abram. Abram knew the mercies of the Lord. This is what Abram was entreating. He was dealing with the eternal mercy of our God and Savoir. There will come times in our lives when someone somewhere will need to call on the Lord that His mercy will touch and work for us!

Oh let there be an Abram who knows how to entreat the mercy of the eternal!
