There are many people who feel that this course of action is inevitable. Right or wrong for either side it? I do not know, yet I do believe this attack is brewing and in my personal option it will happen.
Have you considered the last part of chapter 39 in the prophesy of Ezekiel? In my option this sounds a lot like the after affect of a nuclear attack.

In this article Mr. Prayger posses a MAD theory which makes sense to me.
