Anne Sullivan & Helen Keller

Which one was the greatest?
Which one had the great affect?
This 1888 photo released by the New England Historic Genealogical Society in Boston shows Helen Keller when she was eight years old, left, holding hands with her teacher, Anne Sullivan, during a summer vacation to Brewster, Mass., on Cape Cod. A staff member at the society discovered the photograph in a large photography collection recently donated to the society. (AP photo/Courtesy of the Thaxter P. Spencer Collection, R. Well, without this devoted, outstanding teacher, Helen Keller would probably not have become the exceptional woman we read a bout today. She saw the potential and fought to bring it out. But it took fortitude on both part.

I had read about the photo in the news, but hadn't seen the pic yet. Thanks for sharing. What an incredible love story.

Yes Catherine, you hit the mark.
“She saw the potential and fought to bring it out.” This, to me, is the whole key to this story. The next question is. How many Helen Keller’s have I walked by?

Part of my next blog.

Thank you jana for you kind words.
