Virginia (4)

Virginia is doing GREAT.
She still has some problems, little problems, when she gets tired or overloaded. Her strength has come back wonderfully in both her arm, hand and leg. She has a doctor's appointment two weeks from this coming Friday to try and get cleared to return to work.

For all of this we give thanks to our Great and Wonderful God, Jesus Christ.

My Christmas thought.

Luke 2:11
For unto you (That is to me and all mankind)
is ( a fact no fable but truth)
born (Came in the fashion of a man He was man in the flesh)
this day (Right here, right now)
in the city of David (In the city of the greatest King Israel had known)
a Saviour (The one was to take upon Him that ultimate sacrifice for my sins),
which is(This is a fact)
Christ (The anointed one of God)
the Lord
(The one who said beside me there is no saviour).

A Miracle and Einstein.

I lifted this thought for the religion part of the L.A. Times.

"Albert Einstein once famously quipped that,
"There are two ways to live your life.
One is as though nothing is a miracle.
The other is as though everything is a miracle."
What a powerful message.
The choice, ultimately, is ours."
Something to think about during the Christmas season;

Convictions ? ?

This entry was stirred by a blog of Sis. Allard. Yes, it caused Mervi to stop, look and listen to that small voice and then write.
What does the term CONVICTION mean to you?
How does the term CONVICTION fit into your daily life?
Does this term have an effect on you?
When is the last time, we as Pentecostals, last heard not a preached message but a Bible study on the subject of CONVICTION?

Listed below are the definitions from Marian Webster on line:
1: the act or process of convicting of a crime especially in a court of law
2 a: the act of convincing a person of error or of compelling the admission of a truth
b: the state of being convinced of error or compelled to admit the truth
3 a: a strong persuasion or belief
b: the state of being convinced
Synonyms see certainty, opinion

I believe it that great New Testament theologian Paul who said, knowing that I am set in defense of the Gospel (Phil 1:17). Paul was set, he was ready to do battle over something and that something was the Gospel. Now, the question is asked of us, those who inhabit this time frame and this generation. Are we set, ready to do battle for this Gospel? Did Paul have, “a strong persuasion or belief?” How strong is OUR persuasion of this Oneness not one less gospel? How does our belief in the teaching of Jesus Name water Baptism stand? Are we set to defend these ago old points? Not just in the mistiest of those of like faith do we hold and proclaim this truth. Are we ready to give an account for this faith which we hold so dear? Not to be aggressive, not to be domineering but to stand ready to present and defend our CONVICTIONS when the need arises?
Once more form Paul in the book of Romans Chapter 14 verse 5, “Let ever man be fully persuaded in his own mind.” That STRONG persuasion that this is right or that is wrong! Those good old fashion holiness conviction? This is right, that is wrong, I will condone this, I will not condone that. Why? Because I have been fully persuaded in MY mind, heart and spirit this is where I stand and I have no PLAN to be moved easily!!
What is your opinion about this or maybe that? Are you convinced whatever is right or wrong? Does it require a vote of the majority to establish a conviction? I think there are far too many people waiting to see how, what and where the majority does and goes. Then they will show an opinion! This, in my never to be humble opinion, is not a convection nor an opinion! But let us all go together and be friends.
Yes, many of my convections were formed under the ministry of I. H. Terry and others under whom I sat. Those men who had something to say and said it with both deep and earnest convection, love, desire to help others and certainty this is what influenced my life and ideas. I do the best I can to hold these truths scarred.

Remember that old saying, If you don't believe in something, you'll fall for anything;

Baby tumor with foot inside!

"COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A pediatric neurosurgeon says a tumor he removed from the brain of a Colorado Springs infant contained a tiny foot and other partially formed body parts.
Dr. Paul Grabb says he operated on Sam Esquibel at Memorial Hospital for Children after an MRI showed a microscopic tumor on the newborn's brain. Sam was 3 days old and otherwise
healthy.
Grabb says that while removing the growth, he discovered it contained a nearly perfect foot and the formation of another foot, a hand and a thigh.
"It looked like the breach delivery of a
baby, coming out of the brain," Grabb said. "To find a perfectly formed structure (like this) is extremely unique, unusual, borderline unheard of."
Grabb isn't sure what caused the growth but says it may have been a type of congenital brain tumor. However, such tumors usually are less complex than a foot or hand, he said.
The growth may also have been a case of "fetus in fetu" — in which a fetal twin begins to form within another — but such cases very rarely occur in the brain, Grabb said.
Sam's parents, Tiffnie and Manuel Esquibel, say their son is at home now but faces monthly blood tests to check for signs of cancer or regrowth, along with physical therapy to improve the use of his neck. But they say he has mostly recovered from the Oct. 3
surgery.

"You'd never know if he didn't have a scar there," Tiffnie Esquibel said."

How to wash a toilet

This was simply too much of a time saver not to share it with you.
1. Put both lids of the toilet up and add 1/8 cup of pet shampoo to the water in the bowl.
2. Pick up the cat and soothe him while you carry him towards the bathroom.
3. In one smooth movement, put the cat in the toilet and close the lid. You may need to stand on the lid.
4. The cat will self agitate and make ample suds. Never mind the noises that come from the toilet, the cat is actually enjoying this.
5. Flush the toilet three or four times. This provides a 'power-wash' and rinse'.
6. Have someone open the front door of your home. Be sure that there are no people between the bathroom and the front door.
7. Stand behind the toilet as far as you can, and quickly lift the lid.
8. The cat will rocket out of the toilet, streak through the bathroom, and run outside where he will dry himself off.
9. Both the commode and the cat will be sparkling clean.

Yours Sincerely,
The Dog

Person of the Year

Here are some of Bill O’Reilly’s suggestions;

Congressman Barney Frank, Senator Chris Dodd & Security and Exchange Commission Chairman Christopher Cox

Sarah Palin

Senator Ted Stevens & Governor Rod Blagojevich

Hillary Clinton and John McCain

Michael Phelps and the U.S. Olympic Team

Bill gives sometimes honorable mention and sometimes not so honorable mention yet he rejects each. Here is the one that Bill gives his “Person of the year” award to.

"But above all this year, the U.S. military has had a major impact on the country and the world. Overcoming enormous obstacles to bring a measure of stability to the beleaguered people of Iraq, our forces have performed brilliantly. And, along with NATO troops, American troops continue to protect the Afghan people from the horrors of the Taliban. These brave, unselfish men and woman proved once again in 2008 that America is a noble nation, and their impact and sacrifice should be positioned in the forefront of any "person of the year" exposition."

I agree Bill. Those who, with pride, ware the uniform of the American solider should receive the “Person of the year” award.

Happiness is contagious, research finds

From the L.A. Times today.

"In a study published online today by the British Medical Journal, scientists from Harvard University and UC San Diego showed that happiness spreads readily through social networks of family members, friends and neighbors
Knowing someone who is happy makes you 15.3% more likely to be happy yourself, the study found. A happy friend of a friend increases your odds of happiness by 9.8%, and even your neighbor's sister's friend can give you a 5.6% boost.

Your emotional state depends not just on actions and choices that you make, but also on actions and choices of other people, many of which you don't even know," said Dr. Nicholas A. Christakis, a physician and medical sociologist at Harvard who co-wrote the study."

Here we go again!

Jesus vs. the Atheists

"At this point, there is little left to say except this: Where are the wise men when you need them?
Just in time for the Christmas season, the Governor of Washington State, Christine Gregoire, has insulted Christians all over the world. Inside the state capitol building in Olympia, there is a traditional holiday display featuring a tree and the Nativity scene—perfectly appropriate since the Christmas federal and state holiday celebrates the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem.
But this year, Governor Gregoire decided to add another item to the display. Standing alongside the baby Jesus is a giant placard designed by atheists that reads, "There are no gods, no devils, no angels, no heaven or hell. There is only our natural world. Religion is but myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds."
You read that correctly. The governor of Washington State has permitted an attack on religion to be displayed in her office building as part of a Christmas presentation."

"Optimism" (?)

From the word processor of Cal Thomas;

“During the Great Depression and World War II, truly challenging times, there were songs that boosted the spirits of our parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. "There'll Be Bluebirds Over the White Cliffs of Dover" was one; "Look for the Silver Lining," was another. More recently, the Broadway musical "Annie" lifted theatergoers out of what Jimmy Carter, in 1979, called our "malaise" with the song "Tomorrow" — "The sun'll come out tomorrow, bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow, there'll be sun..."
Where is that optimism today in the midst of the sharp economic downturn? One doesn't hear much of it from politicians and especially not from the media, which trades exclusively in gloom and doom. President Bush has said he believes things will get better. That's not exactly a rousing sentiment. Barack Obama hasn't displayed much optimism, other than his campaign rhetoric for undefined "change." OK, so the economy is weak. Who thinks this is a permanent condition? Americans have always been optimists. Where is that optimism when we need it most?”

Trampled (??)

The sad story of the Wal Mart employ who is trampled under foot. By those who must have that new T.V. at or for the best price.

"Jdimytai Damour was a big man — 270 pounds, by one account — but he was a gentle giant to his friends, who said he loved to chat about movies, Japanese anime and politics. So on Saturday, they were still reeling from the violent and seemingly inexplicable way that Mr. Damour had died — trampled before sunrise on Friday, the police said, by rampaging shoppers running into a Wal-Mart store on Long Island where he was working as a maintenance man for the holidays.
Shoppers started lining up late Thursday night at the Wal-Mart, at the Green Acres Mall on Sunrise Highway in Valley Stream, not far from the Queens border, where DVDs, flat-panel television sets and other entertainment items were discounted to attract crowds on the traditional first day of the Christmas shopping season.
Mr. Damour, 34, who was known to his friends as Jimbo, or Jdidread because of his dreadlocks, got his job at Wal-Mart through Labor Now, an agency for temporary workers. He had been trying to hold back a crush of shoppers pressing against the store’s sliding-glass double doors, the authorities said. Just before the store’s scheduled 5 a.m. opening, they said, the doors shattered under the weight of the crowd. Mr. Damour was thrown to the floor and trampled."

Have I missed something?

There is something happening in our society at this time that has me just a little or maybe a lot confused. The events of the last month have brought some confusion to my thinking and with some with whom I have presented my query. So I will present it here hoping for someone who will try to help me understand.

Point one.
There is a portion of our society that stands back and says, “What? We don’t need that piece of paper. We are in love. That little piece of paper won’t mean a thing. We have our love, isn’t that all that all we need? Will we be more in love after we get it?”

Point two.
Then another portion of our society stands back and demands. “We want that little piece of paper. We are entitled to it. We want to get married. We will get the courts to give us this right.” They are making every effort to get that little piece of paper.

Now, would someone invest the time to try and show me what is going on?

Structure,

“Structure is the means of moral living.”

“Biblical structure tends to bring more deep seated pleasure and to foster longer, healthier lives.”

“Morality simply demands pleasure on the long term (God’s terms) rather than on impulse.”

“Morality is concerned with long term lasting results.”

“A train is free to run most rapidly and freely when it is “confined” to the tracks.”

“Holiness always has good results.”

Don’t laugh! These are not the quotation of a Pentecostal writer. Has anyone, beside self, read a book titled, “Competent to Counsel?”(pgs 160 – 161)

The base of this chapter is that we as humans need a structure to live and move within. The best and only true structure is the Ten Commandments. Along with the point that we need to have instructors to teach us the structure that Jesus desires us to have in the New Testament.

Oh, I am reading this book for the third time;

D.N.A.

I lifted this article from the Ney York Times this morning,

The same technology could be applied to any other extinct species from which one can obtain hair, horn, hooves, fur or feathers, and which went extinct within the last 60,000 years, the effective age limit for DNA.
Though the stuffed animals in natural history museums are not likely to burst into life again, these old collections are full of items that may contain ancient DNA that can be decoded by the new generation of DNA sequencing machines.
If the genome of an extinct species can be reconstructed, biologists can work out the exact DNA differences with the genome of its nearest living relative. There are talks on how to modify the DNA in an elephant’s egg so that after each round of changes it would progressively resemble the DNA in a mammoth egg. The final-stage egg could then be brought to term in an elephant mother, and mammoths might once again roam the Siberian steppes.
The same would be technically possible with Neanderthals, whose full genome is expected to be recovered shortly, but there would be several ethical issues in modifying modern human DNA to that of another human species.

Here is the link to the complete story.

Prop 8

Please bear with the lengthy article I barrowed from Dennis Prager this afternoon. I have been somewhat amazed, concerned, troubled and down right confused. Those who saw Prop 8 fail are now out in arms and in larger groups that I thought to see. The backers of Prop 8 are letting the world know that they have been wronged. Mr. Prager’s article makes a lot of good old common sense to me. I would ask you to at least read the portions I chose to copy. For the complete article the URL is at the end.

"Gay is the new black is one of the mottos of the movement to redefine marriage to include two people of the same sex.
The likening of the movement for same-sex marriage to the black civil rights struggle is a primary argument of pro same-sex marriage groups. This comparison is a major part of the moral appeal of redefining marriage: Just as there were those who once believed that blacks and whites should not be allowed to be married, the argument goes, there are today equally bigoted individuals who believe that men should not be allowed to marry men and women should not be allowed to marry women.
It is worth noting that the people least impressed with the comparison of the gay struggle to redefine marriage with the black struggle for racial equality are blacks. They voted overwhelmingly for Californias Proposition 8 which amends the California Constitution to define marriage as being the union of a man and a woman.
The fact is that states like California already grant people who wish to live and love a member of the same sex virtually every right that marriage bestows except the word married.

A certain number of gay men will feel better if they can call their partner husband and some lesbians will enjoy calling their partner wife, but society as a whole is not benefitted by such a redefinition of those words
And so, the movement appropriates the symbols and rhetoric of the back civil rights struggle when that struggle and the movement to redefine marriage have next to nothing in common."

Early Morning

I stood this morning in center of a country road. I stood watching the Eastern sky, as that gray of early dawn pushed the darkness of the Midnight Blue across the sky. I stood and watched as Orin, Polaris, the Greater Dipper and the lesser all yield to the morning gray. The outline of the mighty Sierras became more and more pronounced as the morning gray over came the night.
As I watched a thought started within me and that thought turned into a prayer there in the middle of a country road, “Oh Lord in this short time frame I call today. Let that light that you have given me fight back the darkness in some life. Allow that darkness to be chased away some of the fear, of what is not seen. Oh Lord allow them to see, just the outline, of that great mountain of God.”

Just a couple of thoughts.

I am upon my old soap Box!

Here is a story that creates some very deep feeling in me. I was raised in a home with a drinking father. I have both seen him drive and been in the car with him when he was far to drunk to operating a 2,000 lb missile. The man who is the direct cause of the devastation to this family needs to be proscuted to the extent of MURDER!!
YES! I do have very strong feeling about someone who is behind the guidance system of this large a projectile. It was done by choice! It was done knowing they were impaired! It is / was not the first time.
Yes! A second time, if my dad in a very impaired and repeated condition would cause this type of loss. He should be proscuted to the complete end of the law.

"Amanda Jahn was driving home from teaching a violin lesson, her two young children strapped into their car seats, when a vehicle came barreling through a stop sign and slammed into their car.
A repeat drunken driver was behind the wheel of the other vehicle, officials said."

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-dui-deathsnov12,0,1585608.story

I have stepped from my soap box.

Now for something on the liter side. How fast do we require computers to be?

"KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - How fast is the new supercomputer at Oak Ridge National Laboratory? If everyone in the world performed one mathematical calculation per second, it would take 650 years to do what this machine can do in one day."

http://apnews.myway.com/article/20081111/D94CEO9G0.html

This computer could only be used by Bill Gates and Donald Trump as they calculate their tax returns.

Am I listening (?)

I get a regular article from this Jewish school. I very much enjoy some of the thoughts and ideas that they present concerning the Old Testament and the Torah. Here is part of this mornings article.

Ziegler School of Rebbinic Studies
Rabbi Cheryl Peretz, Associate Dean Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies

"Communication - the two-way exchange of ideas, facts,
thoughts or feelings - is the key to any successful relationship.
The reality, as Steven Covey, author of
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People,
outlines is that most people do not
listen with the intent to understand,
they listen with the intent to reply.
The failure to listen, to hear, is not just about the words
that are missed, but cuts to the core of the connection
that exists between two people.
.When one person feels like another is not listening,
it creates a deep abyss, a void so intense that it
leaves one feeling invisible, lonely, violated.
Over time, it can destroy any good parts that
remain in the relationship.
And, while this can happen in any relationship,
it is so much more difficult in the most intimate ones,
between life partners."

Just an old dead rose.

I took this picture Tuesday in my back yard. One dead, dry, gone and with all its beauty stripped away rose. As I looked at the remains of this rose there is a text that keeps coming to mind, “the summer is passed and the harvest is over and still we are not saved.” As I sit here and type I have a concern for many, where are they in the seasons of life. Are they in the summer, the time of planting and preparation for life? Are they in the time of harvest, hard work with rewards, seeing the things they worked for come to in to being and enjoying the growth and its rewards? Or are they in the time when it is almost all completed the smaller task after the harvest, the cleaning and preparation for another harvest, the raking and cleaning? But still where is the Lord in our life? Has He changed location in our priorities?

Just a thought;

I have returned from our trip to UCSF the outcome is that I am looking at my third surgery on my right kidney. For some reason that kidney keeps producing cyst, the one that is there now is approximately eighty inch across. The surgeon has asked that the hospital get my in STAT, a must before the first of the year. The cyst is between the kidney and another organ. Thus it is pressing against the kidney causing damage to the kidney it’s self. Your prayers are asked and very deeply appreciated.

Can you believe this one?

WELLINGTON (Reuters) -
A New Zealand rape victim drove her rapist to a police station when he fell asleep in his car after assaulting the woman, local media reported on Wednesday.
Vipul Sharma, 22, was found guilty of abduction and two charges of rape by the Auckland District Court Tuesday, court officials told Reuters Wednesday.
The New Zealand newspaper said Sharma met the woman at an Auckland bar in 2006 and later drove her first to a park where he raped her in the back seat of his car.
After the attack Sharma allowed the woman to drive and fell asleep in the passenger seat, so the woman drove him to Auckland Central police station where he was arrested, said the newspaper.
"She showed a lot of bravery and common sense. I have nothing but respect for what she has endured," police detective Simon Welsh told the newspaper.

From the judge who kept the Ten Commandments.

The following is a poem written by Judge Roy Moore from Alabama . Judge Moore was sued by the ACLU for displaying the Ten Commandments in his courtroom foyer. He has been stripped of his judgeship and now they are trying to strip his right to practice law in Alabama ! The judge's poem sums it up quite well.
America the beautiful,
Or so you used to be.
Land of the Pilgrims' pride;
I'm glad they'll never see.
Babies piled in dumpsters,
Abortion on demand,
Oh, sweet land of liberty;
Your house is on the sand.
Our children wander aimlessly
Poisoned by cocaine
Choosing to indulge their lusts,
When God has said abstain
From sea to shining sea,
Our Nation turns away
From the teaching of God's love
And a need to always pray
We've kept God in ourTemples,
how callous we have grown.
When earth is but His footstool,
And Heaven is His throne.
We've voted in a government
that's rotting at the core,
Appointing Godless Judges;
Who throw reason out the door,
Too soft to place a killer
In a well deserved tomb,
But brave enough to kill a baby
Before he leaves the womb.
You think that God's notAngry,
that our land's a moral slum?
How much longer will He wait
Before His judgment comes?
How are we to face our God,
From Whom we cannot hide?
What then is left for us to do,
But stem this evil tide?
If we who are His children,
Will humbly turn and pray;
Seek His holy face
And mend our evil way:
Then God will hear from Heaven;
And forgive us of our sins,
He'll heal our sickly land
And those who live within.
But, America the Beautiful,
If you don't - then you will see,
A sad but Holy God
Withdraw His hand from Thee.
~~Judge Roy Moore~~

This says it all. May we all forward this message and offer our prayers for Judge Moore to be blessed and for America to wake up and realize what we need to do to keep OUR? America the Beautiful.Pass this on and let's lift Judge Moore up in Prayer.?????? He has stood firm and needs our support.

IN GOD WE TRUST!

Your vote is needed!

This Sunday before election day, I ould ask you to consider the following.

THE IMPORTANCE OF ONE VOTE

Mary W. Morgan, Supervisor of Elections

The most often heard excuse for not voting in an election is "my one
little vote won't make a difference." Yet history is full of instances
proving the enormous power of one single vote. In many cases, the
course of nations has been changed because one individual ballot was
cast -- or not cast -- depending upon your point of view. Consider
this:

*In 1645, one vote gave Oliver Cromwell control of England.
* In 1649, one vote literally cost King Charles I of England his
head. The vote to behead him was 67 against and 68 for -- the ax
fell thanks to one vote.
* In 1714, one vote placed King George I on the throne of England
and restored the monarchy.
* In 1776, one vote gave America the English language instead of German (at least according to folk lore.)

* In a 1955 city election in Huron, Ohio, the mayor was elected to office by one vote.
* In a 1959 city election, mayors of both Rose Creek and Odin, Minnesota were elected to their respective offices by one vote.
* In the 1960 presidential election, an additional one vote per precinct in Illinois, Missouri, New Jersey, and Texas may have altered the course of America's modern history by denying John F. Kennedy the presidency and placing Richard Nixon in the White House 8 years earlier. * In 1962, the governors of Maine, Rhode Island, and North Dakota were all elected by a margin of one vote per precinct.
* In 1984, a Monroe County, Florida commissioner was elected by one vote.

Please use your ONE vote on election day;

I have found the reason for the wonderful drop in the price of a gallon of gas!

"Since July this year, crude oil prices have fallen from $147 to $64 a barrel. Similarly, average gasoline prices have fallen from over $4 to a national average of $2.69 a gallon. When crude oil and gasoline were reaching their historical highs, Congress and other wackoeconomists blamed it on greedy oil company CEOs in their lust for obscene profits. But what explains today's lower prices? The only answer, consistent with wackonomic theory, is easy: Oil company CEOs have lost their lust for obscene profits. Or, maybe, since many of these CEOs are getting up in years, they might have begun to heed Matthew's warning (19:24), "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God."

This the location of this wonderful economics explanation;

Something a little lighter today.

One night a burglar broke into a home.
“Jesus is watching,” said a voice. He stood very still.
Once more he heard, “Jesus is watching.”
As he walked into the den area he saw a large Parrot in his cage.
“Jesus is watching,” was all the parrot would say.
The burglar was about to laugh, as he asked the parrot,
“What is you name?”
“Theophilus,” was the parrot’s replay.
The burglar, by this time was about ready to crack up laughing.
When he asked to parrot, “Who would give a parrot a name like that?”

The same one who would name a ROTTWEILER Jesus!”

Redistribution of wealth

A friend sent this to me in an e-mail. I thought it has a good point, so I will pass it along.

"In a local restaurant my server had on a "Obama 08" tie, again I laughed as he had given away his political preference--just imagine the coincidence. When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight. I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I've decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful. At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient deserved money more. I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application."

Mr. Obama and somthing to think about.

Look at just a few of the things he and congressional Democrats have in mind: Higher taxes on successful entrepreneurs (anyone earning over $250,000), higher taxes on capital gains, higher taxes on dividends, a possible raid on Americans' 401(k)s, a takeover of America's private health care industry, strict new limits on what CEOs can make, and the reimposition of the death tax.
Add it up, and Obama will usher in a new era in America — one where capital, the engine of our economic growth and success, is punished severely through the tax code. If Democrats win a filibuster-proof majority in Congress, it'll be the only form of capital punishment their party will support.

From a Black Republican.

I copied the following from "Black Republican."

"I am very concerned that black Americans are caught up in the fact that Sen. Barack Obama is black and will be voting for the type of person who does nothing to honor or truly help his race. In stead of helping blacks, Obama will actually continue to take actions that hold black Americans away from the true "American Dream." Obama's actions will keep blacks reliant, dependent, and trapped in bogus governmental conundrums created by these failed government programs and policies.
I have seen it many times. Why stand up when the government punishes you and makes it harder for you to get off of these programs, get an education, and get a job? Punishment for success creates this void, this vortex of self-defeat and government reliance. Obama is devoted to the elite in America and throws everyone else "under the bus" when it comes to housing, and many other important factors facing Americans today. He has blind devotion to his inner circle of corrupt, manipulating, socialist, and criminal elitist friends who have paid his way and put him where he is today. Obama's dishonorable means of acquiring his position does not provide a good example for anyone, particularly black people. Corruption, lies, fraud, crime, political favors, manipulation, and ultimately servitude to powerful people with money are not the hallmarks of a man of character, integrity, and respect. By his actions and corrupt associations, Obama has dishonored all Americans!
Meanwhile, Obama preaches that he can save the world. In reality, he is full of deceit and blatant disrespect for average Americans and everything we hold dear. It is sickening. Sadly, I know many black Americans who are going to vote for Obama, not because they have done their homework about the man's character or his policies, but simply because he is a black man. I hear many black people saying "we as black Americans have fought and come so far." It is very disheartening because these same black Americans will vote for the very people, like Obama, who will truly damage their cause and the rights for which they have fought and are fighting for today.
There are many people of different races who find themselves caught in this debacle, and the numbers are growing. They turn a blind eye to the Democrats' approach to economic situations, that amounts to being anti-business, anti-energy, pro-big government and pro-increase in taxes. The tax-and-spend policies of Democrats create even higher unemployment, less business development, less job creation, less domestic development of energy, and a socialist strangle hold on our economy that will lead to the type of economic decline from which we may never recover. We as Americans, black and white, must wake up before we go too far down the dark road of socialism, so far down that hard road of economic disaster that there will be no corrective action we can take that would put us back into the type of free-enterprise system that has made this country great!

Ravenhill (2)

The man who can get believers to pray would under God,
usher in the greatest revival that the world has ever known.
There is no fault in God. He is able.
God “is able to do . . according to the power that worketh is us.”
God’s problem today is not Communism, nor yet Romanism,
nor Liberalism, nor Modernism.
God’s problem is --- dead fundamentalism!

Ravenhill (1)

I have started rereading a book which I have read numerous times, yet I still enjoy. This book is, “Why Revival Tarries,” by Leonard Ravenhill. From Chapter one, “The tragedy of this late hour is that we have too many dead men in the pulpits giving out too many dead sermons to too many dead people.” “A sermon born in the head reaches the head; a sermon born in the heart reaches the heart.”
The reason I enjoy this book? Self evaluation, Mr. Ravenhill causes Mervi to take a hard look at Mervi. With the hard fact of why, how, for how long and for what reason do I pray?

Have a good prayer time;

Mr. Obama & Mr. Powell (??)

Colin Powell Endorses Obama
Former Bush administration official is the most prominent Republican to endorse the Democrat.

Military Won't FollowPowell to Obama
Planet War The political general has already lost his bond with the military.

I was at the Bakersfield Business Conference about eight years ago, just to hear Mr. Powell’s presentation. Man, was it worth the time, he more than filled the hugh tent where the main speakers were at. His speech lasted about fourty minutes after which he took some questions and gave his answerer. He covered the economy, the military, the political spectrum and thing the crowed asked he answered. The crowd applauded him into the next speaker’s time.
After hearing Mr. Powell I have said sence that I would vote for Mr. Powell in any political office, because I like the answeres he had given. NO LONGER can I support Mr. Powell! I do not understand nor can I grasp what has caused Mr. Powell to become involved with Mr. Obama. The only answer that I can come up with is the point that the speech and the answers Mr. Powell gave in Bakersfield was his playing to the crowed.
I am saddened this day.

The above headlines were copied form the Washington Times On-Line addition.

Virginia (4)

Just a quick update on Virginia.

It has been three weeks since her stroke and she is doing better each and every day. Her range of motion keeps improving. Her strength, nerve or feeling and response are still improving. She is both doing well and her body is responding very well to the physical therapy. She has taken a FEW steps without the aid of her walker, scares me, but she is doing fine.

A deep heart felt thanks to all those who have carried her before our Lord on arms of love.

First Graders Taken to San Francisco City Hall For Gay Wedding

First Graders Taken to San Francisco City Hall For Gay Wedding

SAN FRANCISCO, October 11 /Christian Newswire/ -- In the same week that the No on 8 campaign launched an ad that labeled as "lies" claims that same-sex marriage would be taught in schools to young children, a first grade class took a school-sponsored trip to a gay wedding. Eighteen first graders traveled to San Francisco City Hall Friday for the wedding of their teacher and her lesbian partner, The San Francisco Chronicle reported. The school sponsored the trip for the students, ages 5 and 6, taking them away from their studies for the same-sex wedding. According to the Yes on 8 campaign, the public school field trip demonstrates that the California Supreme Court's decision to legal same-sex marriage has real consequences.

Yes, I did see this article in a San Francisco paper Saturday as I was eating breakfast. Yes, it did get under my skin!!
